"Human Inadequacy" is the most famous novel by Osamu Dazai. The work is largely autobiographical - many critics believe that the character of Yozo Oba depicts the author himself: a suffering man who destroys his life, unable to find his place in it. And, as if putting an end to his own existence and pouring all of himself into the novel, shortly after the release of "Human Inadequacy", Dazai threw himself into one of the Tokyo reservoirs.

This work is known worldwide. It has been the basis for a movie, manga, and several anime adaptations.

The novel is now being published in a new translation.
